How we rank eSIM plans

A plain description of how plan data is gathered, what our labels mean, and where our comparison has limits.

Where the plan data comes from

Plans are collected from provider catalogues and then normalised into a single structure so that data allowances, validity periods and prices can be compared side by side.

Prices shown to you are the USD display price stored for that plan. Providers can change prices, plan names and availability at any time, so the provider's own page is always the final word.

Plans can have different verification states

Not every field is confirmed for every plan. A plan can have a verified data allowance, an unverified allowance, or an allowance we could not determine at all.

Where a value is unknown, we show it as unknown rather than guessing. Plans whose data allowance is not verified are not given a recommendation badge that depends on knowing the allowance.

Plans advertised as unlimited are flagged where the provider applies speed or fair-use conditions, so an unlimited label is never presented as unconditional.

How recommendations are chosen

Recommendations are drawn from the plans we hold verified data for in that destination. The comparison considers factors such as price, price per gigabyte, data allowance, validity length and how well the plan suits typical trip lengths.

Each destination carries a ranking confidence value and a disclosure describing what the recommendation is based on. Where that confidence is low, the page says so instead of presenting a confident winner.

Incomplete coverage is disclosed

A destination is only marked as having complete market coverage when our catalogue reflects the providers we track for that market. Where coverage is incomplete, the destination page states this above the results.

Provider counts shown on a destination page separate verified from unverified providers so you can see how much of the market the comparison actually reflects.

Single-provider markets

Some destinations only have one provider in our catalogue. In those markets we do not apply cross-provider winner labels such as best overall or best value, because there is nothing to compare against.

Instead the page shows the available verified option and states plainly that it is the only option we hold data for.

Affiliate links and ranking

FindESIMPlans earns commission on some purchases made through links on this site. Commercial relationships exist with several of the providers listed.

Rankings are produced from the plan data described above rather than from commission rates. We do not claim that our commercial relationships have no influence at all on which providers we have researched and added to the catalogue.
